An event to inspire and create, Yakima's Maker Space Steam Fest; or science, technology, engineering, art and math festival, takes places this Saturday.

Spokesman John Storlie says, “It’s a maker fair with lots of hands-on activities for both kids and adults.” He says it is designed to get families thinking and doing with interactive workshops and demonstrations for all ages.

The Maker Festival is set for 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday at 16 S 1st St. The second half of the day is a fundraiser event set for 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm.

Yakima's Maker Space is an open workshop where you pay a monthly fee to use special tools and space you do not have at home.
