The Yakima Salvation Army is among the groups helping those who are battling flames in North Central Washington.

Lisa Sargent, the agency's programs and events director in Yakima, says members of the Salvation Army have been on the scene since the weekend.

The Salvation Army has been on scene since the fire started helping firefighters and residents. Right now we’re not taking any donations other than cash donations simply because of the cost of shipping those supplies.

Just like the American Red Cross, Sargent says the Salvation Army is looking for cash donations so they can purchase the needed supplies in the areas of the fires.

You can help by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY and designate your donation for Central Washington wildfires or you can go online at salvationarmynw.org. Grumpy's Outdoor Supply in Yakima and all Walgreens stores are also taking donations.
