For the first time in nearly a decade the Salvation Army will have bell ringers in the middle of the summer.  You can always see bell ringers during the holiday season but this year you will see bell ringers in the middle of July at four locations in Yakima.  Salvation Army Captain Jack Smith says "the slow economy has led to an increase in need and a decrease in donations, disposable income due to our economy has become  less and less and less and makes it harder for organizations like ourselves to be able to function when their is such a reduction in funding."

The Christmas in July bell ringers will be at four locations.  Wray's Market Fresh IGA at Meadowbrook and Chalet Malls, Walgreens at 40th and Rosauers at 72nd.  The bell ringers will be out for through Saturday
