SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A Salt Lake City businessman says he was shocked to see a full-page advertisement in an Idaho newspaper inviting candidates to interview to be his wife.

The 48-year-old Baron Brooks told The Spokesman Review that his father apparently took out the $900 Saturday ad in the Coeur d'Alene Press. Although he called the advertisement "embarrassing" and "ridiculous," Brooks says he will let his 78-year-old father go forward with the interviews.

Brooks, who owns two health food stores, says allowing the interviews can't hurt.

His father, Arthur Brooks of Beverley Hills, California, said he wouldn't answer questions about his ad until noon Sunday. The younger Brooks says his father told him the same thing.

The advertisement lists criteria for potential applicants, including age, height and political views.
