Naches lawmaker Republican Representative Charles Ross is pleased the Washington Dream Act passed in this short legislative session.

The bill, now awaiting the governors' signature, will make young illegal immigrants eligible for state college financial aid.

Ross says many of the students are high achievers who deserve a chance since they had no control over being brought into the country as young children. He says the measure gives a better future to immigrants who came here without a choice.

Once the bill is signed into law, Washington will become the fourth state in the country to approve state financial aid for college students illegally in the country. California, Texas and New Mexico have passed similar legislation.
