Yakima city crews are working on portions of Naches Avenue between Walnut Street and MLK, Jr. Boulevard for the next two weeks, September 4 through Tuesday, September 18.

During the project, parts of Naches Avenue between Walnut Street and MLK, Jr. Boulevard will be closed from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm each day.  Detour routes around the project area will be in in place and flaggers will be on site to assist in directing traffic.

In addition to road repairs, the project will include grinding and overlaying the street.  Grinding and overlaying a road involves removing old and deteriorated asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt.  Once the process is completed, the drivability and safety of a road surface is significantly improved.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.
