If your commute takes you along East Viola Avenue or East Mead Avenue you might want to find a different way to work or wherever you are going. That's because traffic restrictions will be in place on portions of East Viola Avenue and East Mead Avenue Monday through next Friday, January 7th through 11th so crews can repair shoulders on the roadway.
A news release from the city explains.

"Lane closures for both East Viola Avenue and East Mead Avenue are planned Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm from Fair Avenue to Rudkin Road.

Signage, detours, and flaggers will be present to guide motorists during the shoulder repair project.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies."
