Rizzi Sworn In As Yakima Police Chief

During the last two months, Dominick Rizzi, Jr. has been thinking of two places: Chicago and Yakima. Since Rizzi was named the new Yakima Police Chief he has been in the process of moving his family to the valley. Today, Rizzi will be sworn in as the new chief. A private ceremony is set for 10:00 a.m. May 7 at the Yakima Police Department.

Dominick Rizzi, Jr. comes from a long line of law enforcement that includes 16 family members. Rizzi’s father, Dominic, is a retired Chicago police captain, his brother Jim, a captain with the Tucson, Arizona police department, and his brother Tom is a patrol officer in Tucson. Various other cousins and uncles have worked for police departments across the country.

His first order of business? Getting to know officers and the community. Then he says it’s time to get down to business and begin tackling Yakima’s toughest crime problem: gangs.
