Remember More Of Your Punchlines By Listening To Ours — Dave’s Diary
Did you know that the Good Book has something good to say about a good laugh? Proverbs 17:22 - A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. Translation - Laughter really is the best medicine and according to new research humor can improve short-term memory in older adults. To find this, U.S. researchers had a group of 20 older adults watch a funny video for 20 minutes, while a control group just sat calmly doing nothing. Then all participants were given memory tests and had a saliva sample tested for stress hormones. Researchers found that those who watched the funny video scored better on the short-term memory tests and had lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol in their saliva. Researchers explain, saying that the less stressed you are the better your memory is. (Yahoo)
