Relief in Sight For Parts of Western Washington

A storm across the Northwest blanketed Western Washington with several inches of snow overnight, but warmer temperatures are expected late Sunday and into the week.

Seattle area residents woke up to about a few inches of rare lowland snow.

The National Weather Service says nearly 3 inches fell at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the heaviest snowfall in a single day there in roughly two years.

Meteorologist Josh Smith says Southwest Washington got hammered with up to over five inches in south Thurston County and some parts of Lewis County.

Smith says temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by late Sunday, and rain is in the forecast for the rest of this week.
