Wednesday was the fifth anniversary of Washington's E-cycle Program and organizers say it has been a huge success so far.

E-cycle is a convenient and environmentally responsible electronics-recycling program where people can drop off computers, televisions, portable dvd players and e-readers.

About 200 million pounds of electronics have been brought to drop off sites across the state in the past five years.

Organizers tell KNDO News that since the program started they have seen a great turnout. Micah Wells who runs the Yakima drop off center at the Union Gospel Mission in Yakima says donations are taken to Seattle where they are recycled for parts.

There are drop off sites all over the state including Yakima and the Tri-Cities.
