- Exported food and agricultural products topped a record breaking $144 billion and supported nearly 1 million jobs in 2013.
With the success of ag exports, Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack spoke at the White House Rural Council’s first “Made in Rural America” regional export forum Wednesday.
The forum kicks off a serious of four more forums to help rural businesses and leaders take advantage of new investment opportunities and access new markets around the world. At the forum a web portal was unveiled for rural businesses considering export opportunities through BusinessUSA.gov that allows businesses to search aggregated business-related information and resources from 24 federal agencies.
- The Conservation Reserve Program is one of the largest voluntary conservation programs in the country.
The initiative helps farmers and ranchers lead the nation in preventing soil erosion, improving water quality and restoring wildlife habitat. The general sign up for CRP is now open. Continuous sign up begins June 9th.
