The Primary Election is on in Washington state.
If you are a registered voter, look for your ballot to arrive in the mail either Thursday or Friday.

Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross says 40,347 ballots are being sent to voters throughout the valley. It's the eighth year the state has used the Top Two primary system to narrow the list of candidates for the General Election.

As for voter turnout in Yakima County? Ross tells KIT News, "I think it's safe to say we're going to see anywhere from 26 to 30 percent turnout for the primary." The Secretary of State's office is expecting about the same statewide turnout -- 25 percent. However, Ross says there could be an increase this year in participation in the city of Yakima because of the new district voting system.

Ballots are being sent to voters in Yakima, Union Gap, Granger and the Naches Valley School District.
If you live in District 7 in the city of Yakima you won't see a ballot for the Primary Election because the only two candidates in that district automatically move on to the General Election. Ballots are due in the Auditor's Office on Aug. 4, which is Primary Election day.
