High winds of up to 35 mph are being monitored by firefighters battling the Range 12 Fire which is is now estimated at 175,000 acres with 20 percent containment up from 10 percent early this morning. The officials say the acreage increase is the result of clearing smoke and a helicopter flying the perimeter with a GPS.
A total of 250 residences have been threatened by the fire since it started Saturday on Yakima Training Center land.

The cause is under investigation.

three helicopters are assisting on the burnout operations on the northeast flank near Hanford Site. Air operations are grounded each time a drone is sighted delaying fire suppression efforts.

Red Flag warnings are in the forecast for Today for high, gusty winds and low relative humidity.  Firefighters say the disturbance moving through the area will test the established perimeter lines.

The fire remains outside the Hanford Site.
