You could call it Facade Improvement or a building face lift program but whatever you call it, it makes for a better looking downtown Yakima!

The group know as DAY - for Downtown Association of Yakima (DAY),  has awarded an all-time high of $14,000 in matching grant funding to applying businesses.

This year’s recipients are JEM Development, Yakima Federal Savings  and MB Designs.  Organizers say the designs will be a "fantastic improvement" to downtown and note the growth of interest in the program by the business community reaffirms their belief in the four year old venture is on track.

​A DAY news release  explains, "The Façade Improvement Grant Program is a major component of DAY’s mission which includes maintaining the historic nature of the Main Street District along with fostering economic growth. The goal of the grant program is to spark investment in the downtown, to ignite projects that might not occur otherwise, and to initiate further investment in the corridor."
