Public Can Make and Buy Art on First Friday at Yakima Maker Space

First Friday is Aug. 1 in Downtown Yakima and Yakima Maker Space and Maker Exchange will be joining other Downtown businesses and wineries in holding a special event.

Spokesman John Storlie says The Exchange is a place where local artists create and sell their work and the special event will allow the public to view and purchase the created art.

It’s full of stuff made by people in Yakima. We give the money to the maker. We save a little to keep the lights on, but it’s a non-profit organization.

The event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Yakima Maker Space and Maker Exchange. It is located at 16 South 1st Street.

One of the highlights of the event is a public art piece. A large canvas will be put up on the side of the building and you will be able to grab a brush and paint your art.
