While the justice department conducts an investigation of an officer involved shooting in Wapato last month the Yakima County Prosecutors office is still waiting for reports to make a decision. On July 21 Mario Rorres was shot by an officer at his Wapato Home during a domestic violence incident. Prosecutor Joe Brusic says the investigation by the justice department wont' influence his final decision in the case. "We are waiting for reports from the Yakima Police Department investigation for my review." Torres family members requested the justice department look at the case. Two officers were called to the home for a domestic incident. Wapato Police say when they arrived Torres grabbed a taser from one officer and tasered him while he was shot dead by another officer. Torres died at the scene the officers remain on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
