Power of Prayer at Work in America — Dave’s Diary

A couple of weeks ago I had the honor and privilege of participating in Yakima’s day of prayer.  Recently the Supreme Court ruled it was constitutionally legal to start city council meetings with prayer, and from what I’ve seen of things in this country and around the world, we could all stand to use a little more prayer in our lives. It turns out that’s what's happening.

A study by marketing consultants BrainReserve shows 55 percent of women and 44 percent of men believe in the power of prayer.

In fact nearly half of Americans are praying more than in the past. When shown the statement: "I am praying more frequently than I have in the past," 25 perccent of all Americans polled "agreed completely" with the statement and another 24 percent "agreed somewhat" with it. I would guess these result are on point with Yakima values.

Yakima is a conservative community.  As the president might say, we cling to our guns and our religion. Amen to both.
