A new pot shop opened up in the city of Yakima last week has been closed by city officials. The "Happy Time" shop opened in Yakima last Friday despite the city wide ban on retail marijuana sales.  The owners say they filed a "show and cause form" with Yakima County Superior Court and that the court approved the new business to open. But Yakima City Manager Tony O'Rourke says that wasn't the case. "We learned this business was never given permission to operate" O'Rourke says the store owners were simply granted a show cause hearing on Friday.
The city did shut down the shop Monday afternoon siting a lack of a city business license and other code violations. A hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Friday in Yakima county superior court. The owner of the store is expected to ask for an injunction against the city so the store can open. Until then the store remains closed.
