Yakima city officials say they'll meet later Moday with attorneys to decide what to do about a retail marijuana shop that's opened in the city despite the city's ban on pot sales.

The new shop -- Happy Times -- opened Friday in the 1300 block of North Second Street. According to the shop, they're a licensed retail establishment and allowed by state law to open.  Manager Jose Campos says “for now the new shop is safe, but come next Friday they'll be meeting before a Yakima County judge, along with the city, to determine why the ban is in place and if it should be lifted or enforced."

City and state officials say the state's recreational marijuana law allows individual cities to create ordinances that ban pot sales.
