The city of Yakima is now having to participate in the same activity that countless other families have been doing over the past week or so; cleaning up after Christmas.

Crews from the city will be removing 80 lighted holiday decorations from around downtown starting at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 7. The decorations are located on street light and utility poles.

Yakima Avenue will have limited access while the removal takes place. One lane each direction will be closed.

The removal will start on the south side of the main road and are expected to be completed by approximately 2:30 p.m.

For more information about the holiday decorations removal process and any traffic impacts that may result, contact Streets Division Supervisor Dan Bigby at 575-6437.
