EVERETT (AP) — A mile-long stretch of a trail has been rebuilt after it was wiped out by Washington's deadly 2014 Oso mudslide.

Snohomish County parks director Tom Teigen told The Everett Herald that the new section of Whitehorse Trail will probably open to the public in March. He says several other maintenance projects along the trail are expected to be finished by next fall.

The 27-mile-long Whitehorse Trail stretches from Arlington to Darrington and runs along Highway 530 and North Fork Stillaguamish River most of the way. It can be used by walkers, bicyclists and people on horseback.
