Police Say It’s A Busy Time Of Year For Thieves In Yakima

Yakima Police say even though it's the season of giving there's a lot of people taking this month and next. Burglaries, shoplifting, package theft and vehicle prowls are the most popular crimes this time of year. Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says if you see something suspicious call police. "We just urge people to just be vigilant and just take that extra step to make sure they don't become a victim."
Bastinelli says package theft is a big problem at this time of year because so many people are shopping online. He suggests having packages sent to your work or family or friends to make sure your package or packages are safe. Police also say lock doors of homes and vehicles and if you are going shopping remember to never leave your package in plain view.
