Yakima Police say two students in the Yakima School District have been identified as those responsible for some "clown scare" posts on social media. But police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says the posts didn't not include specific threats. He says they're working with school officials to further investigate. And Bastinelli says school resource officers throughout the district are also working to identify others who also may be placing clown scares on social media.
Clown costumes are banned at YSD schools and students in clown costumes will be emergency expelled.
Meanwhile schools remain closed today in the Highland School District. That district received a specific clown posting threat to one of it's schools today. So district officials decided to close schools today as a precaution. Highland School District Superintendent Mark Anderson says they're working closely with the Yakima County Sheriff's office but haven't been able to identify the person responsible. He says schools in the district will be open on Thursday.
