Yakima Police Chief Dominic Rizzi says he's very concerned about the cities growing homeless population saying many are coming into the city from other areas. Rizzi, on the Morning News on KIT Monday says not everyone at the homeless camp is from Yakima. "A lot of these homeless are coming from other areas after hearing what they can get in Yakima. They hear you can get free medical care and a free house." He says people are even coming from other states. Rizzi says it's not good for the city to have that reputation. On Tuesday the city council is expected to consider an ordinance that would allow people to camp on public property after the current homeless camp closes on November 15 when cold weather shelters open in the city. The council meets at 6:00 p.m. at city hall.
