Members of the Yakima Central Plaza Committee presented a check to the Yakima City Council Tuesday for $9.6 million in private donations to be coupled with $3 million in public money to build the plaza downtown. Committee members say all the money is pledged thru contracts that guarantee the private money for the city.
Committee spokesman John Baule who says they'll continue to work closely with the city as plans come together to build the downtown venue. City officials have reportedly already finished much of the technical and engineering work on the new plaza.
The money comes from 450 individuals and companies in Yakima and the surrounding areas.
