It is called the Pirate Plunder Adventure Race and a record number of runners are expected to be involved in this year's race set for October 5.

Rich Austin with the Yakima Sports Commission says in 2012 they had 878 participants. But so far this year Austin says, “We’re well over 900 and we’re still a month away from the event.”

Austin says there is a lot of buzz about the course in Yakima and it is attracting people from throughout the Northwest.

The race’s website describes the four-plus mile obstacle course and says contestants will climb over walls up to 14-feet high, crawl through a 100-foot long mud pit, slide down a 30-foot water slide and face many other challenges all while running through a blend of fields, tires, and mud pits.

They are still taking signups up at pirateplunderrace.com
