Pippins’ Fernandez, Kern Named Top Prospects

The Yakima Valley Pippins had the two of the top prospects in the West Coast League this summer, as Vince Fernandez and pitcher Nick Kern were honored by Perfect Game USA for their outstanding performances this summer.

Fernandez, who was named the league’s MVP, hit .359 this summer with new single-season league records in home runs (10) and RBI (51) and was listed as the No. 1 pro prospect in the league. He will be a sophomore at UC Riverside this fall.  Kern ranked seventh on the top 20 list overall.
