In the historic Donald Mercantile store another era comes to an end.

Jim and Kris Russi will be closing the doors of the Piety Flats Winery housed in the 1911 building in Wapato. They are looking for a buyer but would entertain leasing the business. They have been approached to continue the winery as is but that has yet come to pass.

People have said the Mercantile would be a great Micro Brewery because it has a cold room inside.

With its location adjacent to the I-82 it could be just about anything a person wanted it to be with an acre of land that it sits on. The Russi's had plans drawn up for three retail spaces with the same facade as the Mercantile but time ran out on them.

Health issues have forced the couple to retire. They have had a great run starting in 2001 as a gourmet fruit stand and morphing into making their own wine after two years selling other Valley spirits.
