Parts of the Yakima Greenway are closed Today after being damaged by recent flood waters. Greenway Director Al Brown says most of the damage happaned in the area of 40th and Fruitvale. "There's about a thousand feet of the pathway that's just unusable. Some of its gone some of its collapsed."
Brown says the estimated cost of repair is about $100,000 and there's no money in the budget to make the repairs. Currently part of the pathway near 40th Avenue and Fruitvale Blvd. is closed. Brown says they're hoping for state and federal help but if that doesn't happen then they'll look for private donations to make the repairs. Brown says the pathway to Naches was not damaged in the flooding.
