• The U.S. Grains Council reports talks between the Panama Canal Authority and a Spanish-led building consortium fell apart this week and work on the project to expand the Canal was stopped.

    The building consortium is asking for an additional 1.6-billion dollars from the Panama Canal Authority for cost overruns.

  • President Obama has directed his administration, working through the White House Rural Council, to lead a Made in Rural America export and investment initiative over the next nine months.

    The goal of the initiative is to bring together federal resources to help rural businesses and leaders take advantage of new investment opportunities and access new customers and markets abroad.

  • Kim Brackett, a cow/calf and stocker producer from Buhl, ID, has been elected to serve as Cattlemen’s Beef Board Chairman in 2014.

    Brackett spent six years on the Idaho Beef Council in various leadership positions and has also served as Federation of State Beef Councils Director.
