Yakima City Manager Tony O'Rourke will be offered a severance package before he resigns on Dec. 31.

Mayor Micah Cawley says the agreement calls for paying O'Rourke $90,000 as well as a half year of health and life insurance benefits. Cawley says the federal voting rights case forced three of O'Rourke's supporters off the council.

And Cawley tells NewsTalk KIT: "He's really been forced to leave with the combination of the lawsuit with the way things are going, and it's just something I feel strongly about."

The severance package agreement is on the agenda for next Tuesday's City Council meeting, which starts at 6 p.m. in Yakima City Hall, 129 N. Second St.
