Operation Dry Water started over the weekend on waters throughout Yakima County an attempt by area law enforcement to cut down the number of impaired boaters and keep waters safe. Deputy Scot Swallow says while he's looking for impaired boaters they're also trying to make sure people have all the proper safety equipment. "As it stands now anyone born after January 1955 everyone is required to have a boater education card to skipper a boat." Swallow says while they didn't have any problems this past weekend they want to keep it that way during the summer. He says patrols will continue through the upcoming 4th of July weekend.
