The Washington State Patrol has identified a woman killed after driving the wrong way on Interstate 82 and causing a head-on crash Monday night. Troopers say 87-year-old Mary Nelson of Richland was driving her 2002 Volkswagon Beetle the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of I-82 1 mile west of Granger when she struck head on a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Heidi Slinker of Sunnyside. Slinker was injured and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where she remains today. A third car was also involved. It was driven by 35-year-old Griselda Gomez of Kennewick. She was also injured and is recovering at a Yakima hospital. The Department of Transportation closed the eastbound lanes of the freeway while troopers investigated. Crews reopened the lanes around 10:30 p.m.
