Olympia Hospital Hit With Lawsuit for Child Rape Allegations

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — An Olympia hospital is facing a lawsuit over allegations of negligence for allowing a nursing assistant to engage in an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old psychiatric patient.

The Olympian reports that the former Providence St. Peter Hospital employee, 26-year-old Stefani Martin, is scheduled for trial in October. She's been charged with child rape, molestation and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

The lawsuit against Providence was filed Tuesday on behalf of the alleged victim's mother.

It says Martin gave the teen drugs while he was on a psychiatric hold in March and that she engaged in sexual behavior with the boy after his release.

Hospital spokesman Chris Thomas would not comment on the case, citing the pending litigation.
