If you have some old ammunition you no longer want or need take it to the Yakima Training Center on Saturday. The Yakima Training Center will host Ammunition Amnesty Day Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the installation’s Pomona Gate, accessible from Pomona Road, off of State Highway 821. The amnesty day serves as an opportunity for people to safely dispose of ammunition. Officials say don't bring items to the Main Gate on Firing Center Road. Spokesperson Stacy Gossett says "Sometimes we'll run across people who were in the Army in the 40's and 50's and they have stuff ammunition stored in trunks that their family finds after they've passed away." She says they'll safely dispose of it for free Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
