DEER PARK, Wash. (AP) — Law officers in Spokane County have recaptured a prison inmate who escaped from his job as a kitchen worker at a fire training academy being held at Deer Park High School.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office says 24-year-old Juan A. Cruz-Grijalva escaped early Monday morning, but was caught shortly before 9 a.m. in the Deer Park area.

Law officers received a tip from an area resident about a suspicious looking man and responded to the scene. Cruz-Grijalva tried to run for it, but was recaptured.

Deputies said Cruz-Grijalva was serving time for robbery at Olympic Corrections Center in Forks.
