A 1998 West Valley graduate who's now a Fort Worth Texas police officer was seriously injured in a shooting with one of two suspects that started after a car chase Tuesday afternoon. The officer Matt Pearce was shot multiple times and is now in critical condition at a Fort Worth Hospital. Pearce has been an officer in the department since 2009 and is part of the the fugitive unit. Authorities say the shooting happened after the vehicles stopped and a gun battle erupted. The suspects were father and son. The father, 43-year-old Ed Russell McIver Sr. was found dead at the scene. His son, 21-year-old Ed Russell McIver Jr. was found and arrested a short time after the shooting. Both face attempted capital murder among other charges.
