Nonprofit Leaders Heading to Town for Conference for the Greater Good
More than 200 leaders from nonprofits across eastern Washington are gathering in Yakima this week for a conference that will offer help with networking, coping with finances and better managing their agencies.
The third Central Washington Conference for the Greater Good lasts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Yakima Convention Center, 10 N. Eighth St. It's produced by Washington Nonprofits and AFP Central Washington.
Susan Howlett, a nationally known speaker and author who specializes in training nonprofit boards, is the featured speaker. The conference will also include a number of exhibitors and workshops.
Topics include:
- Building strong boards
- Fundraising joyfully
- Better communication with donors
- How to manage the difficult challenges with finances
- Human resource questions in the nonprofit world
Anyone in a leadership position -- a trustee, a city council member, a county official, a nonprofit staff or board member, a church or public school leader -- is welcome. The cost is $70, which includes lunch and three breakout sessions.
