No Work = No Play…Senate Cancels Recess

The Senate will take the Fourth of July holiday off and return to voting Tuesday evening and remain in session for the rest of the week, The Washington Post reported.

Senators had planned to spend the week in their home states. President Barack Obama urged Congress to forgo the break to work on a debt-reduction deal before the Aug. 2 debt ceiling deadline.

“It is often said that with liberty comes responsibility. We should take that responsibility seriously. I’m confident we do. That’s why the Senate will reconvene Tuesday, the day after the Fourth. We’ll do that because we have work to do,” Reid said.
