Yakima Mayor Micah Cawley says he doesn't anticipate using taxpayer dollars to defend the City against a lawsuit over the city councils invocation or prayer. The group Freedom From Religion is threatening litigation.

Cawley says if a lawsuit is ever filed he'll ask the council to consider using funds from outside groups, even donations from local churches before using taxpayer dollars. But the future of any potential litigation depends on the vote of the council on February 1st. That's when the council is expected to vote on a future prayer policy.
