No Injuries in King County Mudslide

Authorities say a mudslide temporarily blocked the Cedar River in Maple Valley on Saturday, flooding nearby properties. There were no injuries.

The slide happened Saturday morning, sending debris and mud into the Cedar River. The river was blocked but returned to its normal flow.

The King County Sheriff's office reported minor damage to properties. There were six homes in the flooded area.

Kent Fire Department Capt. Kyle Ohashi says the slide was about 300 feet high and 300 feet across its base. He adds there's still some standing water on properties.

The King County Sheriff's office closed a stretch of the river for all activities after the slide. The slide is being monitored for any more movement.

Ohashi says there were trees left hanging on the hillside that could come down with wind or heavy rain.
