No Damage From Earthquake in Central Washington

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (AP) — A magnitude-4.3 earthquake rumbled under Washington state's Cascade Range, but no injuries or damage have been reported. The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network says the quake struck at 1:04 a.m. Wednesday and was centered about 20 miles north of Ellensburg and 10 miles northeast of Cle Elum in central Washington. John Vidale (vih'-DAHL'-eh), director of the network at the University of Washington, says the quake triggered a new earthquake early-warning system that's being tested. He says scientists are looking into how fast it was reported compared to when the shaking was felt. Dispatchers for the Kittitas County sheriff's office say they received calls from people who felt it but no reports of damage. The U.S. Geological Survey website shows more than 150 reports of the quake being felt.
