The Yakima County prosecutor says he will not file a charge in the death of a Wapato police officer that has been ruled a homicide.

Prosecutor Jim Hagarty says it would be difficult to prove the death of Derek Hansen was caused by a struggle with a suspect two years earlier.

The 43-year-old collapsed at his home and died last March.

The autopsy found blood clots in his lungs. The clots were linked to a shoulder injury Hansen suffered in 2011 while struggling with a suspect who resisted arrest.
