Yakima County has had a growing problem of thieves stealing metal, then selling that metal to recylcers. Now the Yakima County Sheriffs office is putting together a program which will put convicted criminals on a so called "no buy list."   A list designed to prevent thieves from cashing in on stolen propery.  Yakima County Sheriff Ken Irwin says "we are working with recyclers so they are familiar with the law, so that they stay updated with the list. If we can do this we can make a good dent on the problem in the Valley. Grant County started a similar program and it cut metal theft by forty percent."

Right now the no buy list has the names of a thousand convicted criminals., but Irwin says that list will increase by 500 to 1,000 names.
