4th District Congressman Dan Newhouse doesn't think proposed legislation to ban assault-style weapons in Washington State will save lives. State Attorney General Bob Ferguson will propose legislation next year to ban the sale of assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines in Washington. Newhouse says instead of banning weapons the U.S. needs to put more of an effort into fighting terrorism and he says the U.S. needs to re examine mental health laws. "The fact remains that we don't enforce the laws that are on the books. So I'll just continue to support the Second Amendment." The legislation would ban semi-automatic assault-style weapons - like the AR-15 rifle that police say was used by the 19-year-old accused gunman in Mukilteo in July. The legislation would also ban magazines with more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
