While crews continue to renovate Zaepfel Stadium, work is underway in the large field to the south of the stadium. Crews are creating a host of new athletic facilities for the high school. They're building track and field structures along with baseball and softball fields.

Jim Wright, the Yakima School District planning principal, says the project is the final phase of the plan to overhaul Eisenhower High School.

"It's been so exciting all this work. It's just been a great experience to have this for the community in Yakima. And as I always say thank-you again to all the voters the supporters," Wright said.
The field work is expected to be done by next year. school officials are still hoping to complete the work on Zaepfel stadium by that Nov. 7 game between Davis and Ike. But recent bad weather has set them back, putting that deadline in jeopardy.
