Remember the old college cheer “Stand Up Sit Down - Fight, Fight, Fight!”  So which is it?  Recently science and medicine have said sitting will kill you like smoking will – BUT - a new study claims sitting may not be as deadly as previously thought.

Australian researchers brook down a long-term 1998 health study, which looked at the sitting frequency and various sitting behaviors.

Researchers then examined clinical data based on blood glucose levels from the same participants through the end of 2011 to check for new cases of diabetes. In total, 402 cases of incident diabetes occurred during the follow-up period, but there was little evidence for the associations between sitting and diabetes, and most were linked to TV sitting time.

Study leader say the findings don't exonerate sitting, they indicate there is much more to the story than we first though the health risks associated with extended sitting." (Daily Mail)
