WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) — The current vice president at Green River Community College has been named president of Walla Walla Community College.

The Walla Walla Union-Bulletin reports that Derek Brandes will succeed current WWCC President Steven VanAusdle, who will retire this summer.

The college board of trustees voted unanimously to hire Brandes on Wednesday.

Brandes is also a former dean of career and technical education at Columbia Basin College.

College officials say he is expected to earn between $199,000 and $205,000. His contract will be negotiated and voted on in the coming weeks.
