The Yakima Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has closed its doors but a new organization has been announced.

Chamber officials like Nester Hernandez say the non-profit organization is filing for bankruptcy after losing a costly legal battle. The group was forced to pay close to $15,000 in a lawsuit for not honoring a contract with a person who installed a speaker system for them.

Members of the chamber have already started a new non-profit known as the Latino Business Association.

The new organization will take over the planning for the Cinco De Mayo celebration next year as well as promote and support Latino businesses in Yakima.
